Geertje Foth · Senior Conservator

Geertje Foth opened her studio in Hamburg in 1991 and has worked in her profession for more than 25 years, giving her a wealth of practical experience in the conservation and restoration of fine art.

Her work encompasses conservation and restoration for private clients, prominent art dealers, collectors, museums and cultural heritage monuments in Germany and abroad. 

Her training courses in the field of preventive conservation for employees of art handling companies, private collections, art dealers or auction houses are very much in demand. This training covers handling, hanging, packing, transport, storage, proper lighting, room temperature and humidity, etc.

She gives lectures for private and public collections, foundations – both in Germany and abroad.

Geertje Foth studied art history and the conservation of paintings in Hamburg, where she obtained her degree after three years of practical training in the city’s museums. She is an accredited member of the German Association of Restorers (VDR).

  • Study Program for Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage, Museums and Collections of the City of Hamburg.
